3. A Necessary Response

Eve’s Foundation Reproductive Health and Childbirth Education classes are designed for all people – prospective parents, first time parents, single parents, and teenage parents and their guardians, as well all people of reproductive age.  The classes seek to achieve the following objectives:

  • Teach prospective parents / mothers about proper care during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period.
    • Actively involve men in childbirth through education, information and outreach.
    • Prepare parents / mothers for safe delivery, parenting and safe childcare practices.
    • Dispel myths surrounding childbirth that hinder the proper development of women and children.
  • Teach prospective parents/ mothers about the proper techniques of breastfeeding and encourage them to breastfeed their babies exclusively for the first six months of life.
  • Promote a healthy lifestyle for all women with special emphasis on good nutrition, exercise and stress reduction. 
  • Promote family planning.
  • Educate on the prevention of STIs, including HIV/AIDS, and other health problems associated with pregnancy and infancy. 
  • Strengthen the family unit of the Ghanaian society through family life education. 
  • Provide education and information on the physical, emotional, social, economic and psychological changes that accompany parenthood. 

 Eve’s Foundation community outreach brings the Foundation’s work to multiple venues such as church groups, women’s groups, men’s groups, other NGOs, civic organizations, schools, and government offices.  Topics addressed during outreach may also address other health topics related to reproductive health, such as menopause.

Eve’s Foundation also provides individual and couples educational sessions for prospective and expectant parents, as well as all people of reproductive age.
